The Local Method BadgeIf you have a business and want to know how to get your business online then you will really enjoy this episode. My special guest is a marketing expert for a very specific market, Elder Care and Home Care. Here are some of the things we are going to be talking about.

What does a marketing specialist for Home Care and Elder care do exactly?

Small business owners are interested in having their phone ring with prospects and new clients. Many businesses still need help with websites, google ranking and google local places.

Valerie  VanBoovan (my guest this week), looks at what her clients are presently doing and finds out what is and isn’t working for them.
She concentrates on creating lead generation sites. The main focus isn’t design and smart flashy stuff. The job of Valerie’s websites are to make the phone ring.

The Google Changes

Just a few years ago you used to be able to just put up a video and get ranked easily. Not today. The rules have changed. The competition is getting tougher. You need to insure your websites are optimized in ways Google likes it to get your business online. Plus Google has made major changes to the way local businesses get found in their search results.

Google places is still around but now everything is being integrated into a Google Plus Page. Google is taking the  old Places pages and turning it into the new Google Plus Page. There are some advantages to Google Plus Local. One of them is not as many people on Google Plus, yet. But that is going to change. Also the new Google Plus Page is big on the Mobile platform. You should have a presence on all places google right now. Get the advantage.

Google Reviews

Google got into trouble because they were showing reviews from other places when you used to do a google search. Now they are showing only Google Reviews. Valerie recommends people leave a review on Google for a business. The problem is most people won’t do it. It’s beyond them technically.

A great idea for businesses is to put reviews and testimonials on their website. Valerie has an offsite website where people can leave reviews. She sets up a system where all the Elder Care Reviews can be posted. The site has developed into an Authoritative site.

The Bigger the City The Harder It Is To Rank

In bigger markets it becomes a little harder to rank but you can still get your business online. One thing you can do is to make more blog posts. Pick your keywords and write more content. Also, use the keywords of surrounding communities to improve your rank.

She also will use some low level Pay Per Click Traffic (PPC) to generate visites to the websites and get the phone ringing.

Lead Capture Sites – What are they

Lead capture websites have one job. You want to make the phone ring. These lead capture sites want the call to action be clear … “Call Now“. Valerie uses a tracked number to carefully keep track of the amount and the quality of the calls coming. She also puts a form on the sites. She asks a few questions and helps people engage with the agency. They also send out a monthly news letter. It’s a great way to stay in front of people and easy once it’s automated.

See the example below of a “call to action”.

3 Things To Note When Taking Your Business Online

  • Your website doesn’t have to cost you 10K. Design it to get people to call you and take action.
  • Have  a call to action. Call 555-1212 or Download this free report.
  • Give it time. You need to give it 6 months or more. You can’t rank quickly on Google anymore. If you don’t have the time then do a Pay Per Click campaign. Understand how much this is going to cost.
